Fifth Third Bank
Corporate Web Site
Usability Testing & Design Recommendations
Fifth Third Bank is a Fortune 500 powerhouse with over $110 billion in assets. It operates 16 affiliates with over 1,300 full-service Banking Centers in twelve states. Fifth Third engaged Scoresby Interactive to:
- determine the usability of the corporate web site from the perspective of various, interrelated sub-groups,
- identify ways of increasing bank loyalty and encouraging prospective customers to switch banks,
- assess the value of the site in its ability to enhance the Fifth Third brand with customers, non-customers, and internet bankers, and non-internet bankers.
We designed a usability test with a balanced 2x2 factorial design and crafted activities and task scenarios calculated to answer over 50 questions about the site. Then, we observed and interviewed recruited participants as they worked through established test scripts. The extensive report, video, and presentation delivered to Fifth Third executives were received with enthusiasm and subsequently used as a roadmap for optimizing the site's user experience.
BMW Financial Services
Corporate Intranet
Information Architecture, UX Strategy,
Design, & Usability Testing
Bayerische Motoren Werke (better known as BMW) is one of Europe's top automakers. Its financial division requested that Scoresby first conduct a usability test of and recommend enhancements to their customer portal. Subsequently, they engaged us to design a corporate intranet to serve employees and contractors in North, Central, and South America.
Our challenge was to create a compelling intranet that gives autonomy and flexibility to departments, divisions, and countries, while maintaining BMW's corporate identity guidelines. To this end, we designed a single intranet that feels as if each country has their own unique space, establishing an information architecture and set of templates with enough rigidity to keep the system usable over time but with enough flexibility to avoid stifling department creativity.
The new intranet allows employees to be more autonomous and requires far less support than the old one. Additionally, departments and other internal groups understand and have championed the established standards for publishing content.
Procter & Gamble Purchasing
Purchasing Portal
UX Strategy, Design, and Usability Testing
Procter & Gamble is a Fortune 50, America multinational corporation that manufactures a wide range of consumer goods. P&G charged Scoresby Interactive with designing a new intranet purchasing portal to handle $14 Billion in spending by employees worldwide.
We interviewed employees and met with company representatives to establish requirements for the portal. Then we designed and tested an user interface which connects with P&G's existing SAP implementation. Our design accommodates speakers of various languages, is portable to small-screen displays for mobile users, and much easier to use than the previous system.
